PROCEDURE FOR ACQUIRING AN ARMS LICENCE Whosoever wants to acquire an arms licence (and ammunition for the arm) has to apply in Form-3 to the District Magistrate/Deputy Commissioner of the Faridabad. The application is forwarded to the office of the Superintendent of Police, Faridabad, for police report. After the police report arrives at the District Magistrate’s office, then the District Magistrate issues the arms licence. The following conditions apply to the issue of the licence:
Ammunition : The District Magistrate allows only 25 bullets/rounds per firearm. Purchase period : Once new licence is issued a purchase period for purchasing the firearm is specified – if one cannot purchase it within this period then one has to apply for extension of purchase period. If it is not extended in time the licence stands cancelled vide Rule 52(2). Renewal of licence: An arms licence has to be renewed every three years. The renewal can be done within a month of expiry of the period specified in the licence. The following documents are required at time of renewal:
